Just figured I'd update so my watchers/friends can know I'm not dead.
As you might of guessed, I've been taking a hiatus from DA. I don't really like it that much anymore I guess? I just can't stand all the hypocritical idiocy that goes on outside of my little page and group of friends, and I really only ever use this to post the odd art tidbit and talk to those said friends. Anyways I've mostly been hanging out on Tumblr, my new account being Signum-Mortis; if anybody else has one. Be warned, I cuss much more on Tumblr than I do on here.
I've really gotten into taxidermy lately, and have a small workshop set up in my backyard. Complete with a one foot tall smokestack named Betty for finishing brain tanned pelts. I currently have some dove bones macerating in a bucket, I plan on making some jewelry with them once I've removed the remaining tendons and such. I may post pictures. I've been looking for roadkill, specifically roadkill that wasn't hit by the car too badly and was thrown to the side of the road. Of course, the minute I decided I was ready to skin something after months of planning and preparation, every rabbit and squirrel within a ten mile radius decided it wanted to get flattened to an unusable pulpy stain on the road instead of getting tossed to the side like they normally are.
Also, I really want a fox or a badger to do a soft mount with. Hell, I even put it on my Christmas wishlist.
As far as horse-related news goes, I plan on purchasing a Missouri Fox Trotter mare around next summer. Very excited for that. I'm also leasing a mare named Dreamer now, she's a big girl with a bit of an attitude. She bucked me off two or three weeks ago and I almost broke my hip. I also have a competition on the 17th and hope to do well.
Halloween and my Jersey Devil costume went splendidly, except my heeled hoof-shoes came out a little small due to the plaster and I had to wear my boots instead. But no matter, I still looked pretty awesome. One guy even took a picture. The suit was hell to sew, as I sew everything by hand, but it was worth it because it was strong and very comfortable. I think only a few inches ripped on the inside of my leg when I took a stumble. Oh, and a few stitches on the shoulder when a friend accidentally ran into my wing. But all in all it held up well for being hand sewn. My sunglass lense eyes also miraculously didn't fog up, partly due to an almost invisible breathing hole/slit thing under a compartment in my head I put in in case I needed to get to the inside of my head. Also, when your mask has no zipper and is a solid tube-like hood, emergency velcro strapping is lovely.
I also saw Sinister a few weeks ago, I loved it even though there were a few issues and cliches with it.
